Description

An early spring primrose forming a basal rosette of simple dark-green leaves with clusters of bright coloured golden star studded, raspberry petals that fade to a delicate pink at the outer margins. Primula ‘Husky Raspberry Punch’ will brighten the gloomiest of the late winter months, and their lightly scented flowers are an added bonus. Once established in beds, borders and containers, these easy to grow and robust perennials will charm year after year. For use as winter/spring bedding plants, plant primulas into fresh, free-draining compost and position pots and baskets in a bright, sheltered spot, avoiding harsh midday sun. Water well after planting, keep the compost just moist through winter, remove faded flowers regularly, and protect containers from prolonged hard frost to keep plants tidy and flowering well. Alternatively, plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established. Divide large clumps in late spring or early summer after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell. Position: Light shade Soil: Moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil, or peat-free general purpose compost Rate of growth: Fast-growing Flowering period: January to March Hardiness: Fully hardy
